ㅤPREMISEㅤ

seattle is a city of over 730,000 people. on the surface it seems a completely normal city known for it's arts, music, and college sports. however, what lies beneath the surface is much more interesting. a supernatural hub of communities exist among humans, living out their lives in a delicate balance of rules that govern their world and keep peace. where some other cities and territories host much separation of species causing bias' to boil over such as the discontent between many werewolves and vampires and the rise of human hunters against supernaturals, seattle exists as a open city, accepting all species and even hosting a troll market-- as long as they agree to follow the rules of the council established within their treaty created at the time of seattle's founding. the elder's council, which holds members of the four factions (humans, werewolves, vampires, witches) in the majority, truly control the city from politics to policing and everything in-between. for over a century a relative peace has remained until modern events have caused tensions to begin to rise. will peace remain as external forces seek to break it? or will the city fall apart under the weight of various threats?

ㅤVERSE GUIDELINESㅤ

firstly, this is a 21+ only verse as mature and dark themes will be present. this is a fairly laid back group storyline, but we do ask that people involved have at least moderate activity within it so that we can keep the plot moving. it's also considered a long-term verse where we want to explore character development and multiple plots so please only ask to join in on the 'canon' plot if you are interested in writing with thus for a long time. that said, while this verse has a progressing plot that is the progressing canon of some muses within the world, all or most muses involved in this verse are indie blogs and have other verses for their muses. thanks!

this carrd serves as a linkable resource for plot and lore information for those involved in the storylines of this world.

ㅤWHAT IS STILL CANON FROM THE BLENDED FANDOMS? AND WHAT WORLD IS THE
UNIVERSE BACKDROP? WHAT ARE THE CORE DIVERGENCES?ㅤ

This universe consists of a blend between The Vampire Diaries novels, Twilight, and Hellboy (2004) though lore and story elements from Twilight have been completely altered to a point it's very much a near original take on it at this point and liberties have been taken from the canons. As it stands the events of the first four Vampire Diaries novels are fully accepted as canon with the addition of Agent Myers being Elena's cousin and present in the town during the events of Elena's turning and death and later six months later at her resurrection, the base events of Hellboy (2004) but not it's sequel are canon with the single change that Liz and Hellboy did not reestablish a relationship, and the events of the first Twilight novel are canon with the expected changes which occur by the altered lore and Bella's new family history. A select few Vampire Diaries show characters are also present however they have been fully adapted into the novel setting. The overall backdrop of the world holds to what's seen in both Hellboy and the TVD book worlds. The world is largely unaware of the supernatural world within it though most government are aware largely due to the formation of the BPRD. There are some rumors about figures such as Hellboy, even a comic book being made about him, though nothing confirmed as Director Manning of the FBI Special Operations Division (the BPRD's public cover) continues to deny the existence of such to papers and talk shows. Everything from vampires to trolls do exist. Just don't get on the wrong side of tooth fairies, they are vicious.

The Volturi of Twilight and the Old Ones from Vampire Diaries both exist, however, the Old Ones are much older and the first pureblooded vampires while the Volturi are younger (but still old) turned vampires who have made a habit of collecting vampires with powers giving their coven more power and it is largely believed the Volturi have plots to find a way to destroy the Old Ones (them perhaps unaware the only way to truly fully destroy one would require the blood of an an Earth Guardian). Humans with powers exist and many work for the BPRD on the Special Talents Task Force. In terms of vampire lore, it defaults to the version of vampires in the TVD novels and as such they have more powerful abilities such as animal shapeshifting, weather control, and can be in the sun with spelled rings without issue or outward exposure. Drawn from Twilight, some vampires have enhanced powers. They can eat human food if they want. They are weaker if they drink only animal blood but if they do have control, do not have to kill a human to drink from them as they have no venom in this world. Vampires aren't inherently against nature and like humans and others can use magic though not to the same level as a born witch. Hybrids can exist (though the only vampires capable of having off-spring are the Old Ones as they were born and not made). The Guardians (angels) and the Original Werewolves from the later TVD novels exist though the canon events from those books does not happen. In terms of werewolves, Original Werewolves who come from the born packs of old can change at will (and are much like the wolves in Teen Wolf) and bitten werewolves must conduct rituals which require a death to turn the first time though, werewolves from further generations or ones who have mixed with original werewolves can eventually change without needing to conduct said rituals (altered from canon).

Some large changes from Twilight canon are that the Swan family is a well-known hunting family, who, unlike many hunters, sees a difference between good and bad supernaturals and only goes after the bad and is willing to help the good. Bella was unaware of her heritage during the events of Twilight and Charlie has a spelled tattoo which prevents people like Edward from hearing his thoughts. Charlie was aware of the supernatural nature of the La Push Pack the whole time (and in this verse they are Original Werewolves not shapeshifters). When the Cullen's leave believing it to be safer for Bella, they DO NOT return and after they leave Bella gets closer to Jake and also learns about her family's true heritage, gaining confidence through training with her father and learning about her cousin Bonnie being a witch (as an aside: Bonnie goes to college in Seattle instead of Dalcrest with Elena and in this canon Meredith also does attend Harvard). Victoria does reappear, killing Bella's mother and step-father and terrorizing Seattle when Bella and her father relocate as Victoria seeks to make an army of ripper-like vampires to get revenge for James death given that Bella has powerful allies. She also manages to cause the death of Emmett and Alice Cullen resulting in Rosalie and Jasper parting ways from the Olympic Coven. As Bella learned about her heritage she became less clumsy in fighting as she trained as a hunter with her father, though still manages to be clumsy in an everyday setting. She no longer seeks to be a vampire though remains accepting of vampires who do not give her a reason not to be. Both Rosalie and Jasper end up in Seattle eventually though the remaining Cullen's do not, they also shift their diet to human blood which actually, in the long run, aids their abilities in maintaining control of their bloodlust. Jacob relocates to Settle for college and Leah and Seth are members of his pack, him having established a separate pack than Sam's which remains in La Push to protect their lands.

One element from the Vampire Diaries show that is brought into the canon of this world is the Augustine Society which brought forth the introduction of Enzo St. John to the story who, in this world as a crossover, is Rosalie Hale's biological brother, the two being separated over a century ago and unaware of each other being turned into vampires. This also shifts the canon historical timeline of some characters and somewhat alters elements of their backstories. The Lily Salvatore of the show does not exist in this canon, though a Lily still turned him on a ship and arraigned for the Hale family to adopt a young Rosalie. In terms of Hellboy, Agent Myers and Liz Sherman both end up relocating to the Seattle site of the BPRD at some point after the events of the 2004 film.
Those are the key points in terms of canons drawn from and what is and isn't canon. The finer details can be found in character's biographies or their headcanon sections.

LORE

As already stated the base lore for this universe exists heavily within the lore of the vampire diaries novels and incorporates hellboy and minor twilight influences. below you will find links to lore pages from the wiki's from these series. some key alterations for this world specifically include:vampires: the weakness of not being able to cross running water is ignored. the ability of some vampires to have special affinities as seen in twilight is incorporated into this verse-- this may tie, in verse, to the fact some humans have superpowers or affinities as seen in hellboy which could be latent or enhanced by becoming a vampire. in addition, as a point of fact, in the books the reason there aren't as many vampires around in the world as there used to be is because the old one klaus along with katherine von swartzschild hunted them down and killed them.werewolves: like in the tvd novels, original werewolves and bitten werewolves exist but the alternation comes that while bitten werewolves must conduct a ritual to fully transform whereas original werewolves do not, after a few generations or if the bloodlines mixed with those of original werewolves, descendants of bitten wolves can eventually develop the ability to turn at will and not have to conduct the ritual to unlock their power. bitten werewolves sometimes have less control over their wolf form than original werewolves. as a point of fact: the smallwood family in fells church never mixed with original werewolves, thus being why while tyler smallwood was a born wolf his family came from bitten wolves and never developed the ability to turn at will without the ritual. this may also be in part do the fact the family always married humans rather than werewolves and the gene had become more dormant within them. in addition, there are more original werewolf families than is represented in the books.

THE ELDER'S COUNCIL, CITY FACTIONS, AND THE BPRD

The elder's council of seattle is a council of influential people of the city who operate like a shadow government within the city and ensure peace between the factions and maintaining seattle as a relatively safe city for all kinds of supernaturals and humans alike. many members' children also go to the randall academy, which is a private school of that caters to both supernaturally aware humans and supernaturals. the council itself is made up of various people including the leaders of the factions, politicians, police captains, a medical examiner or two, medical and spiritual leaders, and more. they also tend to have a relative working relationship with the local brpd and a running tab with local supernatural and human private investigator luca de luca who they ask to investigate certain situations and report back to them. it is the council who makes major decisions which can impact the city as a whole, while allowing the factions to govern their own as well. they can also send various people to 'take care of' threats when needed. while there are hunters in the city, the council established that hunters must only go after those who threaten the existence of how things are within the city and not go after supernaturals who are innocent; as such, hunters from other places who do not adhere to these rules are discouraged from coming to seattle or remaining for long.while they have established a relative peace in the city that does not mean there are not tensions which arise between the factions at times or that there haven't been times where wars have not nearly broken out. such was the case in the early 90s when a someone attempted to turn the factions to war by framing various factions for things they did not order including the deaths of the witch athena and human politician david jiang by werewolves and the deaths of the branson pack by humans. however, such a plot was discovered and those who had truly committed these crimes killed. tensions once more are rising with recent events causing some to question the effectiveness of how things have been done for years and it will soon be seen if seattle will rise or fall.while there are many different species of being living within seattle the predominate factions (with a larger number of members and who tend to have the majority vote on the council due to such) are: vampire, human, witch, and werewolf. the vampire faction is led by the sea coven, who's leader is maria ramos. the human faction is made up of supernaturally aware humans, some of which are hunters, and is lead by police captain charlie swan (following the murder of the former leader and police captain). the werewolf faction is made up of multiple packs which reside in the city and are distinguished as a alpha pack and beta packs. the alpha pack is the borgia pack lead by alexander borgia and the other packs of the city submit to them within their community's power structure. there are also known to be various omega werewolves who reside in the city and provided they agree to submit to the rules set forth by the packs they are welcome. the witch faction is lead by celeste gatewood and consists of multiple covens. The Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense (the B.P.R.D. or BPRD) was founded in 1945 by Professor Trevor Bruttenholm to combat various occult threats uncovered in operations against Nazi Germany. It initially had strong links to the United States Army Air Forces and was based at a military airbase in New Mexico, but in 1947 later relocated to a custom built facility in Newark, New Jersey and has various sites around the globe including Seattle. It maintains strong links to various branches of the US military to this day. It is a private organization that receives funding from several major governments (mostly the United States and United Kingdom, although other countries including Canada, Japan, France, and Italy have been mentioned). Professor Bruttenholm served as director until the late 1950s when he stepped down to return to field work. The current director is Dr. Thomas Manning. Over the years, the Bureau has added several agents with "enhanced skills" to its ranks including Hellboy, Abe Sapien, and Liz Sherman (who is now in seattle). The B.P.R.D. is a well known (but not to the public) and respected organization that has excellent relations with most international governments and United States government agencies, with the exceptions of China and the CIA. in terms of this storyline, a focus is on the seattle branch of the BPRD.
